Equality Act supports Deaf Workers.
With many companies, finding the recession tough on it's staff, Deaf staff are worried they might lose their jobs. Cut backs have been hard on most companies across the U.K. and those who do support Access to Work schemes are finding lack of funding is affecting the use of sign language interpreters.
Finding work has been increasingly difficult for Deaf and hard of hearing people, due to the lack of Deaf Awareness training or funding to supply interpreters at interviews. The majority of Job Centres throughout the U.K. also do not supply any support for many Deaf Job Seekers. The Equality Act (2010) is laid out to support people with all disabilities and our research shows that most of the country to not adhere to this legislation.

British Telecom - the communications company that does not like to communicate
British Telecom call it "INCLUSIVE COMMUNICATIONS", So why do they not use their Text-Phones/Minicoms to call Deaf customers. We found that in all our call backs from BT were not through a text phone or minicom. this is fustrating for Deaf or Hard of Hearing people who use the text-phone or minicom service, as this leads to many mis-communications.

Idea Home Exhibition 2011
We visited the Ideal Home Show at Earl's Court this month to do a Deaf Awareness efficiency report, we took two days to cover all elements of the top floor and ground floor exhibits, whilst it was caotic, we managed to compile the report. We found many of the stall holders and major companies that exhibited did not have deaf awareness skills or support BSL support, which was a shame as many Deaf visitors were finding it difficult to communicate. To know more on how we compile our Deaf Awareness Efficiency Report's please contact us to arrange a meeting, you will be surprised on what we find. »
